Daytona 500

Well go figure who would have thought Nola was going to pick the win in the Daytona 500 before it started, and she didn't even watch it lol. Teresa and her went shopping while Victor and I watched the race on the big screen and made some serious plans to go to the races next year. That evening we all had a big feast of Lees fried chicken with all the fixins. Wow another great day in Florida.
Today was a nice quiet one with not much happening, we just stayed around the RV and watch the clouds roll by and followed the weather warnings with a tornado watch for our county. Later in the afternoon we got to contact the family back home and had a nice chat. Well leftovers tonight one of my favorites the last of the pulled pork for the other night.
Well I better get out of here "have good one and keep your stick on the ice"  By the way no tornado touch downs thank god.

The Webster flea market

Saturday morning already "wow were did the week go". I guess when you are as busy as we have been this week time flys. We started the week with a great barbecue at Adam's, the weather was a little chilly (45F) but that didn't stop us.

                                                                  Shelley and Justin
                                                                 Teresa Justin and Shelley
                                                                             Victor
Tinely is trying on all the grown up shoes lol

Well when we got home Sunday night the refrigerator had stopped again, this has been an ongoing saga since we left home. I tried all the usual things I have been doing to re-start it but no luck.Since this was not the first time it has stopped and everything was still frozen, we just went to bed and thought I would deal with it in the morning.
Monday morning and I am up early to check on the  frig but it is still not working. The food is still  frozen solid as the freezer seems to hold the temperature pretty good so we decided to stay with our plans we had made last week to go to Webster Flea Market with Teresa. The frig could wait and I would call a repair man when we got back.
First stop on our way is to pick up Teresa and then its off to the flea market. For those of you that don't know about Webster it  is around 50 miles south of Ocala and hosts one of Florida's largest flea markets with over 4000 venders. I pulled Annabelle in to the parking lot about 9:30 and there was already about 4 or 5 thousand people there. The weather was shaping up to another warm sunny day. Wow so much to see and a lot of great prices and of coarse Nola and Teresa found things to buy lol.

Home from the flea market and ready to call my RV repair guy and guess what "the frig is running" go figure it sure is a mystery to me.
Tuesday we decide to to stay close to home and enjoy the pool and do some swimming.

Wildness Town Park pool 1 of 3
                                                                Nola at the club house
Nola showing off her skills at a different pool in the rec center

Thursday morning we loaded up Annabelle with the loungers and the cooler and we are off to Honey Moon Island just outside of Clearwater which is about an hour and half south of here. The beaches on the island were a little rocky and for sure a bite disappointing to us, so as they say "the honeymoon is over" and we left there for the sandier shores of Clearwater Beach just a few miles away. Much better!

Well I better get out of here it is way to nice out there to be stuck on this computer so remember "keep our stick on the  ice" talk to you later

Happy Valentine Day

We have been pretty busy the last few days so I haven't had much of a chance to update the blog until now. On Valentines day Teresa dropped by with her Granddaughter Tinely on their way home from daycare, what a nice surprise. She is such a cute little girl and she brought Nola a Carnation and wished us a happy Valentine Day. Later in the day I took Nola out for some Chinese food then it was off to an auction in Ocala with our niece Shelley.

On Saturday Shelley came by and picked us up to take us site seeing through the Ocala National Forest at the Juniper Springs State Park. This sure was a beautiful spot with many picturesque sites and several natural springs bubbling out of the ground that we discovered as we walked the trails. Of coarse after all that walking we needed to go for some lunch and stopped at an out of the way restaurant called "Kickin Back" the food was great. What an awesome day thank you Shelley.

Wednesday 13 February 2013

Up about 8:00 this morning put the coffee on and out for a walk with Dazey Mae. Looks like we may get some rain and the wind has picked up quite a bit, so first thing on the agenda after getting a coffee is to put the awning in.The weather channel is even calling for the possibility of hail for some area's of northern Florida oh well I guess everyday can't perfect lol.
I though I might take this time to get a little more caught up with our travels so here we go. About 2 weeks ago we were out driving around looking at RV parks and pulled into one that was on my list to have a peek. The first thing we noticed was the local police were there "this can't be good right" but in this case it was our nephew Adam a police officer with the city of Ocala, how cool is that. And of coarse Nola had to get a picture with him in his uniform, we are very proud of him. Well I guess that parks off the list.

Later that afternoon we stop at Teresa and Victor's and went out for supper at Wise Guys, a nice little Italian restaurant  not to far from their house.
                                                                    Nola and Teresa

Well I think its time to get moving here.
Remember " Keep your stick on the ice" drop by again

Tuesday 12 February 2013

I woke up this morning to hazy sky's. I'am really not sure what the weather will bring us today but that's all right, know matter what it still beats the cold and snow. Okay that's enough winter bashing, lets get on with our travels.
Sunday was a pretty quiet day for us we just stayed around the RV park and did some house cleaning and laundry. After supper we started looking on the map for a possible excursion for Monday and decided we would go for ride to Saint Petersburg and check out the beaches and RV parks in that area.
Monday was a gorgeous day for traveling with temperatures in the mid 80s so we packed a lunch, put the top down on Annabelle (our car) and headed out.

The drive down took us about 2 hours with lots pretty sites once we got to the ocean.

k

We decide we would go to Fort De Soto beaches because there was an RV park we wanted to see. Below is a waterfront site at the park, they were pretty nice and the prices were also responsible. We are thinking of  reserve a site on line there for 2 weeks next year if we can get in.

The Fort De Soto pubic beach was okay but push come to shove Daytona Beach is still my favorite.

Well I better get going here please feel free to leave a comment we would love to hear from you.
And remember "Keep your stick on the ice" talk to you later.

Sunday 10 February 2013

Looks like it going to be another beautiful day here in Silver Springs my outside thermometer is already at 21  Celsius (70 F).
I was a little late getting out of  bed this morning after a late night at the Ocala Speedway (Buba Raceway) were we watched some awesome Modified and Sprint car racing. Victor and I got there about an hour early (6:00 pm)  thinking  we would get some descent seats. Apparently a lot of other people were thinking the same way and the parking lots were already full leaving us to try find a spot on the side of the road.
Success we got parked and headed for the gates for what was expected to be some great racing with NASCAR favorites Tony Stewart, Steve Kinser and Donny Schatz headlining the Sprint car racing.

Have I mentioned awesome yet have a look

                                                                 Victor in the stands

I probably didn't mention yet that this is a dirt track now did I. Well let me tell you if you never been to a dirt track before here's a peace of advice for you do not wear a white coat and glasses are a must.
Me and Vic after the race

Boy did I need a shower when I got home but hey as I said earlier awesome. Well I better get going here.
Remember "keep our stick on the ice" and have a good one

Saturday 9 February 2013

I was a little quicker getting back here this time the good internet service sure makes a difference. Okay that enough plugs for Verizon. Anyway I was anxious to post the picture of my first sighting this year of a Robin this morning while out for my morning stroll.

Now getting back to were I left you on our travels. About a week after arriving at Wilderness Resort we were invited out for super and an excursion to Old Town which is located in Kissimmee just outside Orlando. It was a fine night with great friends and  good food and good times.

The restaurant we had dinner in
The guest of honor Steve the birthday boy
My favorite from the car parade
And of coarse Victors favorite being he's a ford man

About a week later Nola and I ventured off on a ride to the beach " Daytona Beach that is" white sands, fast cars and gorgeous women.

Well I guess you get the picture, we had a really nice day walking the beach and ending with super at a restaurant on the peer.

Well I'am starting to get restless to go out side and enjoy the day so as my friends in Canada say " Keep your stick on the ice"

Thursday 7 February 2013

Wow I thought it would be easy to keep up a blog, mean while it been a month since I last posted here. There has also been a few internet issues that keep me from posting that I finally resolved by going with Verizon Wireless hot spot (great coverage and signal). Anyway I am back and we sure have a lot to post.
Well you probably figured out by now we have arrived in Florida.

The trip down was pretty uneventful with the drive through mountains being a little challenging with all the hills but there sure were a lot of gorgeous sites. We spent the first 2 nights in Walmart parking lots before we booked into a RV park just south of Savannah as this was a city that Nola had always wanted to see. The RV park (Harmony Lake) was a Good Sams Club park and was okay but the lots were a bit on the narrow side. Savannah on the other hand was beautiful and all that we expected and we enjoyed the day touring around and seeing the sites.

After checking out of Harmony Lake RV park we headed  for truck wash that the girl at park office had told us about where we could get Seemore (our motor home) washed as he was absolutely filthy from our travels. Well after the big bath we were on our way to Williston Crossing an RV park just outside of Ocala Florida were we got a great deal for being a first time visitor. $99.00 for one week "wow we'll take it".
We have since move to Wildness RV park just out side Silver Spring which is a lot closer to Nola's family in Ocala and is central to Daytona Beach, Orlando and Tampa all within an hour and 1/2 drive. We are really happy with our site and location and will probably stay here for a few months.
Well it getting warm outside so l think i will call it a day for the blog and enjoy the weather and will do more updating another day, hopefully it would take me a month to get back here lol.
