Relaxing in Mississippi for a few weeks

We arrived at Shepard State park in Gautier Mississippi on Saturday afternoon and will be settling in here for a few weeks. The park is nestled in the bayou on the edge on the mouth of Singing River which empties into the Gulf of Mexico. With only 28 camp sites the park it is not to big and it seems to be fairly quiet here with the exception to the  sounds of the odd train whistle off in the distance.

On Sunday we took a ride in to Biloxi which is about 15 miles from our camp ground. Biloxi of coarse is best known for its casinos and miles of white sand beach along the gulf coast. Well, for you guys that know me you  probably figured out already that we didn't go swimming, no it was off to the Isle Casino for a few games of chance on our favorite slot machines "wheel of fortune" but as luck would have it there sure was no fortune to be had today, so after our small donation it was out of there and back to sight seeing.

On our way back to the camp ground we stopped  in Ocean City at a Flea Market/Craft/Art sale that was going on in their town square. It was a nice end to the day before returning for some steaks on the barbecue.

Well I got to get moving here, feel free to drop by here every once and a while to check on our travels and of coarse above all remember "Keep your stick on the ice" talk to you all later.

Destin Beach Florida

Hi all, its been a while since I have been here last so I thought I would take a few moments and bring you guys up to date on were we are and what we have been up to. First off yesterday afternoon we arrived at  Grayton Beach State Park, just outside of Destin Florida "wow what a beautiful place". We like the state parks the best "when every we can get into one as they are so often booked up" because their sites are so much larger and there is usually a lot more trees and greenery. Well it didn't take use long to get set up and get Annabelle unhooked and ready for some new adventures, so after a short walk around the park we headed for a tour of the area and dinner.

All set up for the rest of the week

After some serious sight seeing in the car we decided we would stop at the Boardwalk in Destin and take a  stroll along the water and have dinner at a nice waterfront restaurant.

This guy is ready for a boat trip but there is no Captain, I guess he will just have to fly
Nola on the boardwalk waiting for me to catch up as usual

This was a great place to just sit and relax and watch the boats go by

I think these guys are waiting for dinner
And speaking of dinner here is were we are going to have ours

Well I better get going here I think we are heading for the beach today. Remember " keep your stick on the ice" talk to you later.

New reservations booked

We are starting to get itchy feet here in Silver Springs and it will soon be time to move on (March 20 to be exact). Today I made some new reservations starting with 3 days at Grayton Beach up in the Florida panhandle before we move out of the state and onto the Mississippi's Gulf coast for two weeks just outside Biloxi. And then the one I think we are the most excited about is the week after that (April 6), we are booked  into an RV park in downtown New Orleans just a few miles from the French Quarters. Woo hoo!

Pontchartrain RV park Passport America member saved 50%

Well we don't have anything planed for today but it is getting pretty warm out there so we may go for a swim later so I better get out of here "Remember keep your stick on the ice" talk to you later.

State Parks part 2

Teresa and Victor had to travel to Georgia today so we volunteered to look after their dog Tipsy and wait for some new furniture they were having delivered.

So I thought "hey good time to get a little more caught up with our blog". As I mentioned in the title, this is the second part of our state park visits and is the story of our travels to Homosassa Springs State Park Wildlife Preserve, home for many of Florida's exotic birds, Gators and the Manatee.

It was sure a beautiful day and we spent the time exploring the trails that lead us to many of their exhibits  through out the park and ended the day with a nice picnic lunch right on the grounds.

State Parks part 1

Okay lets see if I can catch up a little since it been almost two weeks since our last post. We have of coarse been busy traveling around to a few of the State parks and taking in all the gorgeous sights they have to offer starting with Rainbow State park in Dunnellon.

Nola at the entrance to Rainbow Springs State Park

This was such a beautiful place as we passed many waterfalls as we ventured down the winding trails through the park snapping pictures all along the way.

That's all the time I have for now I will try to get back here tomorrow.
